My intent was to draw attention to the difference between the semantics of
synchronous and asynchronous replication. I suppose I could have said "Hey
stupid, this replication stuff is complicated and based on the question
you're asking, it seems like you Just Don't Get It yet. Go RTFM on the
difference between sync and async and then re-design your application but do
it smarter next time." However that didn't seem very friendly.
