There is something fishy there, for sure.  Intertwining subscriptions
seems to be a not entirely nice thing.

It seems to me that this particular restructuring of the "regen
sl_listen" falls out of scope for today's activities with 1.1.5, but
certainly it'll get looked at for 1.2.

And 1.2 efforts will be starting pretty promptly in the new year.
There are a *lot* of changes in CVS HEAD; it warrants doing more
testing, there are a few things it would be real nice to add (Jan is
thinking about rotating between sl_log_1 and sl_log_2, which I
prototyped, and which we have had in mind really since the beginning),
and getting this to be pretty clean seems a good thing.
