As long as we recommend .pgpass, which is an alternative mechanism for keeping
passwords hidden, I'd be comfortable with "do nothing."

-> % ack-grep pgpass *sgml [against HEAD]

adminscripts.sgml
755:that <filename>.pgpass</filename> will be used for storage of

faq.sgml
428:stored in <filename> $HOME/.pgpass</filename>, partially filling in
903:put them into <filename>$(HOME)/.pgpass.</filename></para>

maintenance.sgml
348:<envar>PASSFILE</envar> location of the <filename>.pgpass</filename> file
to be used. (default <filename>~sysusr/.pgpass</filename>)</para></listitem>

security.sgml
156:<listitem><para>You can setup a .pgpass file on each node you are running
157:slon on. slon will then retreive the passwords from the .pgpass file.

slonik_ref.sgml
319:     passwords from <filename> .pgpass </filename>.

That seems like that's enough coverage!
